I am interested to rent a boat. What should I do?

If I have the 1 Star Kayak Personal Skill certification, do I need to bring along the certificate for rental?
Yes, you are required to produce the relevant proficiency certification (minimum 1 Star) for verification if you are planning to rent a closed deck kayak (Q-Kayak Sprite, Q-Kayak Wanderer, Dag) or Outrigger. We accept both soft and hard copy for verification.
Is there a minimum age to rent a boat?
Yes, the minimum age is 7 years old (based on date of birth) and the user must be able to fit in a Personal Floatation Device (PFD). For users below the age of 12 years must be accompanied by an adult in the same boat. For Dragon Boating activities, a minimum age of 9 years old is required.
What is the timing for the last boat rental?
The last timing for the rentals of the kayaks/ canoes/ dragon boats is 5:00PM.
Can I bring my own equipment?
If you prefer to use your personal paddle or personal floatation device (PFD), kindly note that the equipment must go through safety checks and approval by us before use. PFDs have to be ISO 12402 certified or equivalent safety standard (E.g. CE, UL, US Coast Guard).
Where can I kayak?
If you are a non-certified user, you are allowed to kayak within the Kallang Basin only. For certified users (minimum 1 Star certification), you may kayak or canoe along the Kallang River, Geylang River, Kallang Basin and Marina Channel.
Do you need prior experience to rent a boat?
No experience is required. We have crafts that cater to beginners and basic paddling skills will be shared prior launching off.
What happen if there is a capsize?
Hold on to all equipment and stay with the boat, attract attention with the whistle or paddle. Our safety boat onsite will be out to do the rescue.
Can I reserve the kayak in advance?
No, advance booking is currently not available.
What do I need to note for advance booking for Dragon Boat rental?
- Booking is only confirmed upon payment. Payment is required to be made at least ONE week prior to booking date.
- There will be no refund due to inclement weather. Postponement of booked session is only allowed ONCE and must be completed within ONE month from booking date. (e.g. Replacement session for 1 November booking to be completed by 1 December).
- Replacement session (subjected to availability) is to be informed at least ONE week prior to replacement date, otherwise session will be forfeited.
- No changing of reserved boat(s) allowed.
How can I register for the water sports courses?

What is the minimum and maximum class size for programmes/ courses?
1 Star & 2 Star Course: 6 - 10 pax (per class)
Dragon Boat Orientation Programme: 8 – 10 pax (per 12 crew boat) and 16 - 20 pax (per 22 crew boat)
Kayak Orientation Programme: 6 - 20 pax (per group)
Is there any age restrictions to register for the water sports courses?
Yes, you will need to be at least 9 years old to register for the kayak and dragonboat orientation programmes. For both 1 Star and 2 Star courses, you will need to be at least 12 years old. Please note that the age is calculated based on your date of birth.
What is the deadline for the registration of the water sports courses?
The registration will close 7 days before the commencement of the course.
How can I prepare for the course?
You are encouraged to be in appropriate attire that include t-shirts, shorts and flip flops or water shoes. We also recommend that you bring along your water bottle for hydration, sun block cream and personal medication (if necessary).
Is it alright for me to wear contact lens or spectacles for the course?
We would recommend you to bring along your contact lens case and solution for removal. It is advisable to put on a retainer on your spectacles to prevent it from falling off easily.
If I am unable to attend the course, will I be entitled to any make-up sessions or refunds?
There will be no refunds or make-up classes for any missed sessions.
